MEDIA RELEASE
25/09/2025
The American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T) is proud to announce the finalists for the 15th Annual National Excellence in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Awards, the nation’s premier recognition of organizations that demonstrate outstanding commitment to HSE standards and culture.
Since its inception, the HSE Awards have highlighted and celebrated the vital role businesses play in protecting people, preserving the environment, and promoting a culture of safety. Officially endorsed by the Ministry of Labour since 2011, these awards continue to be the benchmark of excellence, showcasing the private sector’s leadership in raising the bar on health and safety practices across industries.
This year, thirty-five (35) companies submitted entries across four major award categories. Following the judging process, twelve (12) companies emerged as finalists, underscoring the private sector’s continued commitment to innovation and excellence in HSE performance. The finalists were carefully evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges representing a cross-section of industries. Their assessments focused on measurable improvements in safety standards, effective health programs, and a clear commitment to minimizing environmental impact.
Among the standout achievements, four companies have been named as finalists in the prestigious EXCELLENCE IN HSE AWARD category, which recognizes organizations that integrate HSE as a core business value and demonstrate excellence in both HSE and business performance. The four companies are:
· Halliburton Trinidad Limited
· Sonriz Engineering Services Limited
· West Indian Tobacco Company Limited
· Yara Trinidad Limited
AMCHAM T&T CEO Nirad Tewarie congratulated the finalists, saying: “We are
extremely proud of all the companies that submitted entries and particularly
the finalists who continue to set the standard for HSE excellence in Trinidad
and Tobago. These awards are not just about recognition; they are about
reinforcing a culture where health, safety, and environmental responsibility
are embedded in every aspect of how we do business.”
“The continued commitment to HSE standards shown by our private sector is a powerful example of how organizations can balance profitability with people-centered practices and sustainable growth,” Tewarie said. “At AMCHAM T&T, we believe that the long-term success of our companies and our country depends on this kind of unwavering dedication to safety and responsibility.”
The 15th Annual National Excellence in HSE Awards will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to celebrate organizations that continue to raise the bar on HSE practices at a glitzy ceremony on November 10th, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency. The event recognizes companies of all sizes and across various sectors, reflecting the inclusive and wide-ranging impact of building a sustainable health and safety culture.
Through these awards, AMCHAM T&T continues its mission of driving business innovation, strengthening corporate responsibility, and building a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future for all citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.
AMCHAM T&T extends heartfelt thanks to bpTT, the official Title Sponsor of the 15th Annual National Excellence in HSE Awards, as well as to Southern Sales & Services Car Rentals (Transport Partner) and Media 22 (Tech Partner) for their invaluable support.
