The American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM T&T) is proud to announce finalists for the 16th Annual National Excellence in Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Awards, recognising organisations demonstrating leadership, innovation and measurable commitment to HSE excellence across Trinidad and Tobago.
The 2026 Awards attracted submissions from twenty-four (24) companies across four categories: Excellence in HSE, HSE Evolution Award, Towards Operational Resilience, and Outstanding OSH and Environment Project. Following a rigorous judging process, 17 organisations advanced to the next stage, where 12 companies emerged as finalists in the respective categories. Entries were assessed by a distinguished panel of HSE professionals, with evaluation focused on measurable performance, continuous improvement, innovation, environmental responsibility and the integration of HSE into organisational culture and business performance.
A notable development this year was the significant increase in submissions from the manufacturing sector, highlighting the growing attention being placed on HSE within an industry where workplace safety, environmental management, regulatory compliance and operational continuity are closely interconnected. The increased participation signals a broader recognition that strong HSE systems are not only about meeting regulatory requirements but are an important part of sustainable and responsible business performance.
“These Awards have grown into much more than a celebration of companies that perform well in HSE – they are a platform for learning, accountability and continuous improvement,” said Nirad Tewarie, CEO, AMCHAM T&T. “For more than a decade, AMCHAM T&T has used the Awards to spotlight organisations that are raising standards and demonstrating what a strong HSE culture looks like in practice. Six companies have been named finalists in the prestigious Excellence in HSE Award category, which recognises organisations that embed HSE as a core business value while demonstrating strong HSE and business performance. The finalists are:

• Oil Mop Environmental Services – (Services – Large Company Category)
• Piranha International Ltd. – (Services – Small Company Category)
• Crown Holdings Ltd. – (Manufacturing – Small Company Category)
• Holiday Snacks Limited – (Manufacturing – Large Company Category)
• Halliburton – (Energy – Large Company Category)
The remaining finalists will compete across the HSE Evolution Award Category, recognising meaningful and transformative improvements in HSE performance; Towards Operational Resilience Category, which focuses on preparedness, business continuity and the ability to adapt to disruption; and Outstanding OSH and Environment Project Category, recognising projects that deliver measurable and sustainable improvements in HSE and stakeholder wellbeing.
Officially endorsed by the Ministry of Labour since 2011, the National Excellence in HSE Awards have become an important platform for benchmarking HSE performance, sharing best practices and encouraging organisations to pursue continuous improvement. AMCHAM T&T also supports this objective through its HSE Mentorship Programme, which connects participating organisations with experienced HSE professionals and past award winners.
